I Finally Won in Atlantic City!

Yes, I know I haven't posted in over a week, and as odd as it sounds, it wasn't for lack of anything interesting to write about. On the contrary, my synapses have been in overdrive. So, I had this totally awesome Thursday Thirteen planned for this week - 13 random mini-essays on the ideas bouncing around in my head. Then I completely crashed after work on Thursday. No problemo, right? I told myself, "Be different, be wild, Bebe. Just post the Thursday Thirteen on Friday." Ha. Friday the hubster took me out to dinner.

What was I to do? Post on Saturday? Good idea. However, through no fault of my own, I drove to Atlantic City today and ended up winning $200 on the nickel Wheel of Fortune machine. I never win. Seriously, I drove to A.C. to have lunch at the Borgata. My waiter talked me into playing the slots, because he had a feeling I would win today. And I did. Isn't that cool?

Now it's nearly Sunday, and I have to work tomorrow teaching orientation class to 30 or so new hires at the day job. So... no Thursday Thirteen this week. Besides, some of these ideas are just too good for a mini-essay!

The Luck of the Irish

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!!

Believe it or not, I'm not of Norwegian descent. I know a lot of people assume I am because of Aurora's Passion. I'm a second generation Irish American. It's true. My maternal grandparents came to the United States in the 1920's. My Nana (paternal grandmother) is also Irish. Her parents came to America shortly before she was born in 1919.

Yeah, so? Well, this means if I wanted to, I could claim a dual citizenship in the US and Ireland. Seriously, I could get an Irish passport and everything, which could come in handy if I ever want to move to Europe.

Anyway, I thought I'd share some Irish sayings today in honor of my wonderful 88 year-old Nana and in memory of my Grandma & Grandpa.

If you're lucky enough to be Irish, then you're lucky enough.

Beware of people who dislike cats

There are good ships, and there are wood ships, the ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships are friendships, and may they always be.

May you never forget what is worth remembering,
Or remember what is best forgotten.

May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you
In the palm of his hand.

and my personal favorite...

"They're always after me Lucky Charms!"

How Was the Flight?

I'm home. I flew into Philadelphia late this afternoon. Did you ever notice how people ask, "How was the flight?" when you fly somewhere? How are you supposed to answer that question? In my book, it's a good flight if I get to my destination, because that means the plane obviously DIDN'T CRASH!

Mr. T (hubby) and Max (cat) both missed me very, very much. Mr. T even watched American Idol with me, and he hates that show. And the hockey game was on.

I honestly think I might be over Idol. None of the contestants are really doing it for me this year. Randy Jackson said it's about the "Yo" factor. I think plenty of them have the "Hell No" factor, but frankly nobody really stands out as supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! I'm kind of wondering why I should even bother. Especially when I could be writing.

What do you think? Has Idol jumped the shark?

Hello from Sunny Florida

I have two more days in Florida. Although I have been mostly taking care of my mum, it is beautiful here. Lots of sunshine, temperatures in the upper 70's, good food, good friends - it's times like these when I ask myself why I left in the first place.

I miss Philadelphia, though, and most especially my two guys at home. I've been married to Mr. Thomas for 8 1/2 years, and yes, I do quite a bit of traveling for work and writing and occasionally family matters without him. But this is the longest stretch we've been apart in the time we've been together. It's hard feeling torn like this - I want to be in both places. Perhaps someday we will be able to have a home in Philly and one in Florida.

I've worked on some writing this week. I'm happy to say, I think I am over the hump on Aurora's Promise and will be turning it into my editor very soon. I also have another book idea churning around in the old gray matter. More on that later.

As for this week, well, I am heading home Tuesday. But tomorrow, my fellow Dreams and Desires author, Amanda Brice, guest blogs on WNBC columnist Michelle Buonfiglio's Romance by the Blog, and all of the authors will be dropping by throughout the day. I hope you will stop by if you have some time.

I'm Back...

Hey-

I hope everyone is doing well. I've had a rough few months, but I'm back on track. I'm hard at work on Aurora's Promise - it will be done soon, I promise.

Today, I'm chatting at Novelspotters. Stop by and ask a few random questions. Here's a few ideas...

What color are your eyes?
What CD are you listening to right now?
Have you had any dental work done lately?
